Traffic Modelling

Data you can see. Decisions you can trust.

Traffic modelling provides the evidence developers and municipalities need to make informed decisions. MDT uses industry-leading software—Synchro, HCS, SIDRA, VISSIM, and Aimsun—to model intersections, corridors and full networks. Our models simulate queueing, blockages, level-of-service (LOS) and delays, offering clear visuals that simplify complex scenarios. Whether for site access operations, or transit-priority design, our modelling work is defensible and transparent, making it easier to secure municipal staff and stakeholder buy-in.

Reports/Deliverables

Our traffic modelling services provide clear, evidence-based insights to support planning, design, and construction. We deliver operational capacity models (Synchro, HCS, SIDRA), micro-simulation models (VISSIM, Aimsun), queue and delay analyses and transit-priority assessments. These tools allow us to test network performance under a variety of scenarios, ensuring that recommendations are both technically sound and practically achievable.

Value to Client

By visualizing traffic operations in a clear and defensible way, we help clients de-risk municipal negotiations and gain stakeholder confidence. Our modelling approach enables multiple design options to be tested quickly and cost-effectively, supporting better decision-making while keeping projects on schedule. The result is stronger alignment with municipal expectations and smoother approval processes at council and community levels.

Relevant Projects

We have applied traffic modelling expertise across a wide range of transit, roadway, and infrastructure projects. Our work includes modelling for rapid transit construction impacts, bridge rehabilitations, major highway designs, and urban corridor improvements. This experience allows us to tailor the right modelling approach, whether operational analysis or micro-simulation, to meet the needs of projects at any scale, while providing clients with defensible results that advance approvals and implementation.
